Last week was full of ups but mostly downs. 

Lots of downs as a matter of fact.

For but one example, Quincy Quarry’s coverage started out with reporting shots fired and thus a joint manhunt was initiated by Quincy Police Department personnel with the cooperation of Massachusetts  State Police troopers.

Fortunately, some of the edge could be taken off the next day as it was National Kazoo Day.

The fun did not last for the benefit of snow and ice clearing truck drivers, however.

These truck drivers spent a night parked outside and idling their trucks waiting for an anticipated snowfall that never happened. 

Then again, overtime paid to city employees as well as fat hourlies paid to contracted private vendors’ truck drivers do make up for a lot even if such is funded at local taxpayers’ expense.

The Quarry then segued to an exposé of a local police officer apparently undertaking a leisurely as well as extended buzzcut while on duty.

Next up, a winter time miracle: potholes patched in Quincy!

Whoddathunk?!?!?!?

This miraculous ying was then followed by the yang of a curious traffic accident involving at least one Quincy police cruiser.

And as for this week’s wrap came word that Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow.

As such, six more weeks of winter should be expected as Phil has a terrible record forecasting how long winters are going to last.

Accordingly, Quincy Quarry News featured Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation videos on how to make and  then effectively use brine to deal with snow and ice around the house.

Will the City of Quincy take notice, however, remains to be seen.
