This afternoon shortly before three, Quincy Police radio chatter overhead by Quincy Quarry’s Senior Citizen Police Radio Scanner Monitor included word of a combined be on the lookout as well as armed and assumed dangerous alert.

Apparently, the subject of the alert fired off a number of 9mm millimeter rounds with the spent shells and other evidence apparently undergoing processing by Quincy crime scene investigators as well as the alleged shooter was noted as wanted for assault with a dangerous weapon and other serious felony charges.

Of equally important interest was the range of other information quickly accessed by police.

Not only was a name of the suspect and his year of Birth (1990) noted over the police radio, Quincy police were able to run the usual checks, they were also near instantaneously able to score other information.

For example, Quincy police were able to find out that there were no records that the suspected shooter ever had gun permit, ever bought a gun or had even but merely been subjected to a gun purchase background check in either Massachusetts or in an unknown number of other states.

Police also were working license plate and apparently the Massachusetts State Police have an extensive monitoring network to look for the ride with the plate on a near real time basis so long as the vehicle is traveling on so monitored roadways.
