Pedestrian down on Newport Avenue shortly before 10 pm last night.

One police radio transmission indicated a(t least a, ed.) serious head injury with the accident reconstruction team rolled to the scene and which is never a good sign.

Southbound lanes on the major crosstown arterial that is Newport Avenue were closed with traffic barriers brought to the scene as well as detail police officers assigned to help redirect traffic.

This is sixth pedestrian strike in Quincy since the first of February per Quincy Quarry’s unofficial count as well as at least the second such serious injury incident
