Pedestrian killed in Quincy Saturday afternoon.

The ever-increasingly mean streets of Quincy continue to be the venue for the killing of mostly senior citizens as this is the fourth pedestrian fatality in less than three months with three of these fatalities seniors.

Given this at least fourth pedestrian fatality in Quincy this year, Quincy looks to be on track to set a new record for pedestrian fatalities in a single calendar year.

This latest local pedestrian fatal accident occurred at roughly 11 AM on Saturday when a sixty-eight year-old man was struck while crossing Quincy Shore Drive adjacent to Wollaston Beach.  The victim was then transported to Boston Medical Center and where he was officially declared deceased.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian remained on the scene.

Police are investigating the crash.  Police did state that speed was not a factor in the accident; however, so far no charges have been filed even though the deceased was apparently in a crosswalk when he was fatally struck.

At this point, these has been no comment from Quincy’s City Hall, much less from Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch as to what is planned to address the recent spike in fatal carnage inflicted upon mostly senior pedestrians – not that this silence should come as any great surprise to the ever-growing legions of loyal Quincy Quarry readers.
