With things heading into the quietude of the Dog Days of Summer, also at least relatively quiet is news about Quincy Massachusetts.
As such, Quincy Quarry hit the ever-increasingly congested and mean streets of Quincy looking for news and so stumbled on a story: one about an overly long lingering campaign yard sign on a busy corner opposite Quincy’s new public safety headquarters.
The campaign sign touts a former Ward 1 supplicant of Quincy Mayor Koch who voters decisively voted out of office over eight months ago.

Even worse, there is no compelling regulations for the removing of campaign signs other than the hoped for courtesy of removal within seven to fourteen days after a general and thus final election during a campaign season.
Like politicians are courteous after an election is over and the votes are counted.
Unless, that is, it is towards a generous campaign fund contributor.
Further, in the case of this voted out of office ward heeler, he was grifted with fourfold higher paying and even less lifting place dining at the public trough.
Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on one’s circumstances, the sinecure was most understandably soon under fire and which is a whole other story that Quincy Quarry is following.
Well, I am so happy Quincy Fire got their new outfits and that they had a ceremony to put them on and all the media was alerted. It was on every channel and in all the papers. Hopefully they are happy and we won’t have to hear about the jackets any more. Speaking of City jobs, does Quincy Quarry know why we still have an interim Fire Chief? What happened to the former chief? Nobody told local citizens.

Last thing first, like the Koch Machine provides particulars — absent an actually responded to Public Records request or during the discovery phase of litigation, that is.
As for happy, not likely as there is the ongoing gripe of overwork in spite of a massive increase in staffing in recent years well in excess of other communities.
And as for the new gear media coverage, Quincy Quarry duly advised a local broadcast outlet that got something significant wrong with its early coverage and its subsequent coverage then changed.
In any event, the Koch Machine desperately needed to change the subject in the wake of Tom “Steak Tips” Clasby’s sentencing leaving bad tastes in the mouths of many local taxpayers.
Finally, as for the acting Fire Chief and the still paid per the budget official chief, rumor has it that the official chief is on an extended leave with medical leaves a sealed proposition.
In any event, paying two chiefs played a significant role in seeing the fire department yet again run over budget by 7 figures in the most recently concluded fiscal year. That and yet again serious overspending on overtime in spite of a very well-staffed fire department.
Oh, are those the new jackets and other necessary equipment the PREVIOUS city council sat on FOR MONTHS? The ones that the NEW city council postponed voting on for ONE WEEK — and were (and still are) demonized for stalling the approval? Those jackets?

There is not enough time in a day for me to be able to duly throw shade on the OFD’s new causal wear warm-up outfits also bought for the hosers and I say this as someone who is a hose lover.
McCarthy lost because he was Tommy’s secondary (after DiBona) coat holder. Now it seems the Admin is doing everything they can to ding Jacobs. Was shutting down Sea St. on a busy morning commute just a “Graz the Spaz” move or a more devious ploy to try to embarrass Jacobs. Although Neckers suffered, they got through it and now understand better that, Spaz cannot get out of his own way and this Administration is purely EVIL. McCarthy is part of that evil. He is also keeping a very low profile. The milk carton is a fitting photo before and after the last election. Now it appears DiBona should be put on one too. He has not been seen in the Neck in a few months. They both must be afraid of being questioned in Public. Oh, the horror.
Merely questioned would be getting off easy.
They are likely paying the real chief to bring his pension up & letting him collect full pay while paying another chief who will appease the union. I heard the real chief was not kissing the union’s ass & Koch moved him out. They would have appointed an “Acting Chief” under Civil Service for an illness and not an interim. As usual Koch is doing stuff behind the scenes to make sure the fire department (AKA his donors & family) are taken care of. Both Stop & Shops are never without a fire truck there. They must be racking up the points ! Hopefully the City Council will get some answers. After all, It’s only tax money.

Unlike McCarthy, Jacobs is responsive, usually returning calls or emails the same day. I had the dubious fortune to have tried contacting McCarthy several times during his incommunicado tenure as Ward 1 councilor and he never responded — not once — and the issues were never resolved.
Is Polymarket taking bets on how the Zoning Board (appointed by Koch) will vote on the proposed 520 apartments in North Quincy on property that Fox Rock Sold ? I know there would never be any underhanded politics going on in the City of Presidents. (In Quincy, you pay or donate enough “presidents” you can get anything you want) St. Florian & St. Michael, please look the other way!
