A surprise top vote getter!
A Facebook image

While reviewing the election results, there were some newbies elected into local elected offices as well as a few departures.

For example, challenger Richard Ash knocked off Quincy Ward 2 incumbent Anthony Andronico and challenger Courtney Perdios bumped School Committee member and former Quincy High School principal Frank Santoro off of the Quincy School Committee.

Perdios also received the most votes among the three candidates who won seats on the School Committee and such scores her benefits as to her standing among committee members.

Both Ash and Perdios are expected to not be be tools on stools for the Koch Machine or at least not to the level that the machine’s preferred incumbent candidates have long been.

The City Council will also see Dan Minton, a retired Quincy police lieutenant, taking the open Ward 4 Council seat given the retirement of incumbent ward councillor Chuck Phelan (no relation to former Mayor Bill Phelan, ed.) and Scott Campbell slipped into an at the at Large Council seat given that incumbent at Large Councillor Anne Mahoney opting to instead run for mayor.

Yet again targeted by Quincy Quarry
A Quincy Quarry News Phun Team meme

And as for the one clearly bright note, at least as far as most Quincy Quarry News readers will likely enjoy more than a little schadenfreude for at least this morning, former Quincy Ward 1 ward heeler Margaret LaForest will yet again be out of a job come the first of the year.

LaForest signed on last spring as Braintree Mayor Charles Kokoros’ Chief of Staph and with the all but certain tacit expectation that she would help see him win reelection; however, Kokoros was upset last night by challenger Erin Joyce via a convincing margin.

In turn, LaForest will thus be both again out of a political job came the New Year as well as likely without a recommendation from Kokoros.

While the Quarry did not bother to reach out to Braintree’s Town Hall for comment, it is only reasonable to expect that LaForest will soon be calling on Quincy Mayor Koch to ask for a job with the early line in Las Vegas that the ask will be for the post of Harbormaster.
