Most students return to the classroom as Massachusetts reports rising COVID-19 cases, especially as regards outsized increases among public school students, teachers.
Starting today, elementary students across Massachusetts are heading back to class full time.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is requiring that beginning April 5, students from kindergarten age up to five grade have to go back to school full time unless their parents are opting to keep them underfoot at home learning remotely.
For many students, it will be the first time in over a year they will be able to see their friends five days a week most weeks.
Also problematic, Quincy Quarry’s broadcast media brethren report that Quincy ranks second among Massachusetts public school districts for COVID-19.
While the Barnstable Public Schools District tops the list as well as with roughly but five-eighths of the enrollment of the Quincy Public Schools District, recent increases in Quincy’s overall COVID-19 infections statistics are tracking upwards such that Quincy could still well return to the Red Zone by the end of the month.
