Roiling hot water

Yet another senior official tied to the City of Quincy is in hot water.
Boiling hot water.
That and serious legal trouble.
The legal council for the Quincy Retirement Board was recently torched by the Massachusetts Inspector General over basically double dipping and other improprieties in years past while he employed as the Chief Executive Officer for the Worcester Regional Retirement System.
While no improprieties were pointedly noted by the Inspector General during this individual’s more recent employment as counsel by the Quincy Retirement Board, the retirement board has posted a call for applicants to provide legal counsel given a likely firing in the wake of the Inspector General publishing its findings along with recommendations for sanctions.
Needless to say, City Hall’s long ongoing hiring of problematic individual in what one cannot help but view as an arguably close to a halfway house ethos on top of Koch Maladministration’s family and friends friendly hiring practices pose obvious questions.
Also needless to say, however, local officials are surely yet again loath to care to have to answer only fair questions about this latest departure of yet another senior city official under fire.

Another hack hire by Koch. I wonder what he traded for this hire. This is as bad as the Graz and Fat Larry heist. Keep it up “Tommy Toast” — your day is coming in the next election. I bet Tommy does not run again. Leaving by the toe of the citizens’ boots is surely scaring the hell out of him.
Losing an election surely trails behind possible concerns of suffering a perp walk.
I love that the Council has requested an audit of the City’s land acquisitions and accounting there of. Who paid for what and with what monies. If we can also find out who got paid Broker’s Commissions, that would be very helpful….The devil is in the details. “Tommy is Toast”.
Welcome to the “Koch Klub”: Where the Laws are Made Up and Your Votes Don’t Matter.
In the latest installment of Quincy: The Fiefdom Next Door, our esteemed Retirement Board just received a stern finger-wagging from state officials.
The crime? Attempting to perform a little “administrative alchemy” to see a City Hall security guard set up to become a not so old and well-paid police grade retiree.
Apparently, being “on the front lines” of the City Hall lobby is identical to being a veteran beat cop -— at least in the eyes of Mayor Koch’s personal cheering section.
The State explicitly told the Board that this move was, you know, illegal. But since when has “the law” ever gotten in the way of a good old-fashioned “favor” for the Mayor?
Naturally, the vote to approve this absurdity was led by the usual suspects: a Quincy cop who doubles as the Mayor’s driver and a firefighter who is a “friend of the family” (and whose relative is also conveniently on the city payroll).
Because nothing says “unbiased fiscal oversight” like a board full of people who owe their zip codes to the guy at the top.
The playbook is simple: Keep the quarterly campaign donations flowing. It’s not a bribe; it’s a “subscription service” for your next promotion.
Kiss the ring. If you pucker up enough, your relatives might just find themselves with a shiny new city job.
Ignore the State. If the big bosses in Boston say no, just vote “yes” anyway. Rules are for people who don’t have the Mayor’s cell phone number.
Welcome to the Koch Klub folks!!!
Time to retire the current Retirement Board.
