MBTA General Manager Eng straphanging, right

The MBTA announced with some fanfare yesterday via its General Manager Phillip Eng staging a photo op that slow zones on the relatively short run of the Ashmont branch of the Red Line are no more.

Sorta/kinda anyway.  While some comments posted to the coverage by one of Quincy Quarry News’ media brethren did confirm smoother and faster train rides on the Ashmont line, other commenters noted continuing trip time delays care of operational problems such as the universally dreaded train hold.

Additionally, roughly 70 slow zones apparently remain along the rest of the Red Line, including in Quincy along the Braintree branch of the Red Line.

Quincy Quarry News considered endeavoring to reach out to Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch for comment as for over a dozen years he is has been the Chair of the MBTA Advisory Board in addition to his being the most senior member of the MTBA Board of Directors; however, as the Quarry is aware of the fact that Mayor Koch has long be ducking ongoing efforts by a reporter with the Boston Broadsheet to interview him, Quincy Quarry’s City Editor figured why bother waste time endeavoring same.

After all, with a mayoral election in Quincy next week amidst growing rancor among at least some locals over his tenure in office, there is pretty much no Q-ing way that he is going to risk any negative media coverage, especially given his proclivity for making verbal gaffs when so forced to work without notes or at least off camera cue cards during an open-ended interview.

Accordingly, Quincy Quarry has opted to share with its ever-growing legions of loyal readers a recent interview by WBZ’ Channel 4’s Jon Keller of Mayor Koch’s younger and trimmer doppelganger Brian Kane, Koch’s number one boy at the MBTA Advisory Board and arguable illicit love child.

Click here to see the interview as well as the eerie resemblances both physically and verbally.
