Senator Ed Markey leads Representative Joe Kennedy in three new polls as their senate primary race goes negative.

Three polls released earlier this week indicate that United State Senator Edward Markey has opened up a sizable lead over challenger United States Joseph Kennedy III with less a week to go in what has become a hotly contested Senate primary race.

Trey was long the putative favorite to primary Malarkey; however, the latest polls now suggest a commanding lead for the seventy-four year-old incumbent junior senator from Massachusetts.

The margins in the polls range from seven percent to ten percent to twelve percent, all well outside of the margin of error as well as all but assuring that the incumbent will be surviving a primary challenge by the young upstart from a storied Massachusetts family.

In recent days the race has also taken an increasingly acrimonious tone in recent days.

Kennedy’s campaign team has called upon Markey and his campaign manager to instruct their supporters to “immediately end” the online attacks against Kennedy and his backers, including death threats.

In turn, Markey then denounced the “vile and hateful language” as “totally unacceptable and intolerable.”
