Massachusetts Legislature leaders say they have dealt with sexual harassment complaints.
“It’s not only a State House issue,” said House Speaker Robert DeLeo, “You’re hearing stories in other states and nationally as well.”
In other words, the defense offered up by Speaker DeLeo is basically that Beacon Hill is only being as piggy as other legislative bodies and – as one can only assume – other workplaces.
Conversely, Christina M. Knowles – who worked inside and outside of the state capital for years in various capacities, including as executive director of the Massachusetts Caucus of Women Legislators – posted on Facebook as well as Twitter last Friday that anyone surprised by the allegations of harassment on Beacon Hill are “part of the problem.”
