Care of the admirably dogged efforts of the reporter assigned by the South Shore broadsheet to cover Quincy, Quincy locals now know that convicted federal felon Tom “Steak Tips” Clasby has formally seen his city employee pension benefits revoked by the city’s pension board.
The board’s vote was unanimous and were cast during a closed door meeting on June 25th.
While it is only fair to note that there probably is a basis to have held the termination of Tips’ pension benefits vote behind closed doors, an eleven day delay for the public to then know about the vote can only heighten local suspicions about a scandal that has rocked the already rocky Koch Maladministration.

For example, over the lack of answers over questionable behaviors by those not facing time served, much less the potential loss of their own city pension benefits.
In any event, while Steak Tips will be losing his pension benefits, he will be reimbursed for paycheck deduction copays of a sort to help fund his pension benefits, albeit without any accrued interest or other return on interest on his paycheck deductions.
While the impact of inflation greatly reduces the duly adjusted former purchasing power of Clasby’s paycheck deductions, he is expected to receive a low six figure reimbursement.

On the other hand, as a part of his sentencing, Steak Tips promised to see his paycheck deduction reimbursements applied to cover his $136,000 year restitution order.
Further note that Steak Tips likely was burned for roughly a million dollars in net present value pension benefits had he not been busted for his crimes and so would have been able to work for several more years and so collect the maximum pension payout possible for 32 years of time dining at the local public trough.
Net/net, while Tips is looking at short time in prison, an over a million dollar financial hit is a million dollar hit.
Had “Steak Tips” Clasby resigned his position and put in for his Pension early before getting found GUILTY of his crime(s), he would have seen a monthly kiss in the mail. But since he didn’t start taking his Pension benefits before the outcome of his Criminal case and being found GUILTY, he lost his Pension. If Clasby was found Not Guilty, he would’ve kept his Pension.
Technically, you have a point, HOWEVER, upon conviction any such monthly pension payouts would be deducted from his refund of his paycheck deduction co-pays of a sort towards the funding his pension benefits. In turn, such deductions can typically fund a couple of years and few months more in monthly benefits before a conviction would see the gravy train plug pulled.
Is Quincy Quarry placing bets that the new Director of the 911 between Quincy & Milton will likely have DNA traceable via 23&Me to the Koch Club Family or to a Koch donor?
After all, such is usually a requirement. So there will be a grant for the position and they say it is for 7 years and guess who picks up the huge salary after the grant runs out? The suckers- AKA the Taxpayers.
Entire police agencies should be regionalized by county. Get rid of City police except in Boston. If Quincy can share a 911 center with Milton, they could share a chief and trim jobs that are redundant. Everyone knows this is the model that saves the taxpayers money so they should do it with the entire agencies not just dispatchers.
Get rid of all the dead weight at the tops of police and fire departments. Regionalize it by counties and save the suckers some money. A fire engine sitting with a crew in east Milton Square cooking roast beef dinners could easily share with the West Quincy Fire guys toasting marshmallows and be one agency and so cut much of the fat in these overinflated budgets. Quincy had $600,000 of court overtime time budgeted. Double what it had in the last five years and the Chief looked with a straight face lying and saying it was because of “COVID.”

Miltonians’ willingness to tolerate all of the koched-up fat, however, is a whole other matter.

At the March 23 meeting, Mahoney allowed Walker to deliver her comments in full and did not threaten to remove her or remove her from the meeting
During the city council meeting “Mahoney struck her gavel and told Walker to address the chair, not individual members.”
Walker responded “OK, I’ll talk to you as a board, but … I can do what I want during public speaking,”

Quincy politics feels exactly like a North Korean rally. If you’ve ever seen video of crowds frantically clapping for Kim Jong Un, you’ve basically seen Elvira’s Facebook Page & Tom’s public appearances.
A few months back, the Council called out Mayor Koch for racking up $2 billion in city debt. Tom’s brilliant defense? “Other cities wish they were Quincy.” Cue the clapping seals.
A week later, completely unfazed by the debt crisis, he asks for $21 million to buy the ENC property. Anyone else would stop spending, but Quincy’s loyalists immediately put up lawn signs and wore “Save ENC” shirts. You truly couldn’t make this up -— it’s either Pyongyang or Quincy.

The overall issue is basic. The employees of the City of Quincy work for the city, not the mayor. He has stolen that premise and required that all city employees work for him as his discretion. That is corrupt. His Prayer Gang is a noble idea but sick: Graz, Clasby, Hines, Murphy (Timmins?)… No more need be said. Where does church and state overlap? At the front of the new public safety building.
The City of Quincy has over two hundred firefighters — the average amount for a city of 100,000 is 120. Quincy almost double that. You vote for him year after year
