After weeks to admittedly months of not publishing a Weekly Fish Wrap, Quincy Quarry News finally had no choice but clear out the stench of rotten fish.
Seriously rotten fish.
While any one of many things stinky could rate as the lede for this week’s fish wrap, Quincy Quarry opted to open with how a Superior Court judge ruled against the rejecting of ballot petition signers who wished to see a pending 89% raise subject to a vote of approval — or not by — locals, a vote which by the way is also mandated by Section 17A of Quincy’s city charter.
Further as regards this so far stymied pay raise grift, earlier this week the City Council concurrently enough voted to strike the raise and next plans to endeavor to conduct a proper compensation review next fall when the council returns from its summer recess.

Needless to say, the Quarry’s sources have showered down with word of plans pondered by the Dark Side so as to endeavor to thwart the will of taxpayers who are not wild about the pay pop griftings.
Accordingly, the Quarry will be at the ready to exposé such slimy moves as as they might be endeavored.
The good news: rumored plans notwithstanding, most any and all efforts by the Koch Machine and its fellow travelers on the Dark Side to keep the now in limbo fat raise for the mayor in place will likely instead only increase the rancor of many to most local voters towards the mayor.
Reasons for the likely rancor include that the Quarry’s financial and other affairs desk has run the numbers as to what to expect in the way of local property tax increases come the start of 2027 in a mere six months.

How ugly will be the property taxes be in 2027?
Quincy Quarry News’ ever-growing legions of loyal readers can expect yet another hard-hitting to the stones Quincy Quarry News exposé in coming days.
A very expensive and thus especially painful exposé.
In the meanwhile, ugly was the precursor to the expected expensive exposé: Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s FY 2026 budget proposal.

How ugly?
Variously as well as wicked ugly.
For example, the City Council cut the proposed FY 2027 debt service line by $500,000.
Normally, local taxpayers would find any such a cut a good thing, however, in this instance, the worrisome problem is that Mayor Koch’s finance director appears to have mistakenly included a principal pay down of $500,000 in the FY 2027 budget on a bond that was already funded to be paid off in full during the ending in a few days FY 2026 budget year.
Needless to say, one could thus only reasonably wish to hope that this honey boo boo was the greatest Q-up of recent weeks.

Accordingly, other things hit the fan even harder.
For but starters, while the council was holding a hearing so as endeavor to better discern what went wrong to allow former Director of Elder Services Tom “Steak Tips” Clasby to over many years embezzle tens of thousands of dollar of taxpayers’ money, the City of Quincy’s Purchasing Agent did a couple of nutties and was thus kicked out of the meeting with a police escort as well as also a catcalling supporter of the purchasing agent who dropped an F-bomb on her way also out of the door.
