An upscale Quincy waterfront watering hole in Quincy’s normally quiet Marina Bay better known for date nights was apparently the site of a contretemps between two said to be off-duty Massachusetts State Troopers Friday night.
Smartphone video of the incident has been widely distributed on social media as well as the incident has received extensive coverage on regional broadcast news.
In turn, the puncher was suspended from duty per a stern statement out of the Massachusetts State Police’s headquarters pending a formal investigation per an official statement.
Conversely, per multiple reports Quincy police responding to the scene found the punched statie uncooperative as well as refused medical treatment.

We will be told this week “Just one bad apple …”
Unfortunately, when people get power they often feel entitled and thus above the law. The MSP brass would be standing shoulder to shoulder at a press conference if these guys were two MBTA workers, 2 Firemen or 2 sanitation workers if not for the fact their own people were the perps. There would have zero problem releasing the names for anyone other than one of their own.
Will there be an investigation into whether they were consuming alcohol while armed, how many drinks they were served or if they were driving their take home rides home?
If not for the cell phone video this would have been swept under the carpet, just like Quigley’s accident where he allegedly killed a disabled person after drinking and later driving his cruiser home. They kept it silent for well over a year and he continued investigating other people for crimes. Just like the poor recruit who died.
All worried about their pensions and not a loss of life. All the brass skated on that one …
Why no disorderly conduct charge? You don’t need a victim for disorderly conduct. The mere fact that someone engaged in fighting in a public place and created a disturbance allows for charges.
Why didn’t Quincy Police take charges out against the trooper? Shall we guess why?
Just like American Express, Membership has its privileges …
Trooper,
While reports indicate that the pummeled statie trooper did not care to press charges, you do have a solid point that going with disorderly conduit would have been an easy peasy.
What is going to be hard finesse is the video no matter what the union lawyer might care to press short of the vic doing the puncher’s wife or perhaps his daughter — but even then.
Plus, the Massachusetts POST Commission has juice AND the head of state police is the first ever outside hire.
I don’t know which department(s) have jurisdiction on Commander Shea Blvd and Victory Road but they would be great places to have DUI roadblocks.
Talk about drunks in a barrel!
And in answer to your implicit ask, all roads heading out of Marina Bay are open to the hosting of OUI stops by either the Quincy Police Department or the Massachusetts State Police.
