Punxsutawney Phil was rousted for the one hundred and twenty-sixth time from his winter hibernation to be the focal point of a local winter celebration in the sleepy little town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
In turn, Phil is said to have seen his shadow with such further said to be a sign calling for six more weeks of winter.
As if such should come as any surprise to Quincy locals who awoke this morning to an outside temperature leaning on single digits in the wake of what was a freakin’ frigid January.

Even so, as for making the call as to what is up for Eastern Massachusetts, Quincy Quarry News prefers the far more accurate giant ground squirrel prognostications of the Massachusetts Audubon Society’s Ms G.
The breaking badly bad news for long suffering Quincy residents: Ms G also called for six more weeks of winter.
That and scientifically-based forecasts calling for far from balmy weather for at least the next couple of weeks.
Oh great, a rodent in Pennsylvania just decided we’re stuck with six more weeks of pothole-ridden misery. Like winter in Quincy was ever going to end on schedule anyway! Maybe next year, we should just have a Wollaston Beach seagull predict the weather -— at least they actually live here.
