“Hey, did you set the parking brake?

While not as bad a week as was the case for Democrats nationwide or likely in time millions more, it was still a rough week for senior City of Quincy officials as well as Quincy generally.
First up was word of a whole new manner of the local scourge of house whacking.
In short, yet another example of an Only in Quincy Q-up.
How so?
Someone apparently forgot to set the brake on her but more likely his trash truck and it so rolled into a house and so took out the front porch.
Next up, on Election Day Quincy was again subjected to monitoring by federal election monitors.
While there was no (official) comment from the feds, federal election monitors are typically imposed for cause.
Ample cause.
And then was a surprisingly uneventful Election Day as compared to expectations.
Next up for the money shot of the week, the quants on the Quincy Quarry Financial and Other Affairs desk finally rolled out their prediction for the upcoming Calendar Year 2025 average residential property tax increase.
While likely only half of the increase for this year, the increase will be a sizeable one as compared to other municipalities.
Seriously sizeable.
Additionally painful, the Quarry concurrently rolled out a warning that impending Calendar Year 2026 residential property tax bills are already looking to run around this year’s over 8% on average tax increase, if not even more..
Needless to say, only time will tell if the mayor and city councillors will be hit with taxpayers’ pain.
