Certain DPW workers doing what they are know for doing

Quincy Quarry News has followed up on a Quarry story commenter’s ask that it photo-document the patchwork of potholes patches as well as potholes along Sea Street in front of the City of Quincy’s Department of Public Works’ headquarters.

Additionally, given an abundance of well-warranted caution as well as the insistence of both the Quarry’s human resources and legal departments not caring to risk yet another workers compensation claim, the Quarry tasked its latest student intern with the assignment, ordered her a crash helmet, and assigned her the Quarry’s mil-spec Humvee for her drive-by shooting.

As it turned out, she did not need the crash helmet even though assigning her the Quarry’s forward deployment-ready Humvee was a good idea given the condition of local streets.

In turn, she had the good sense to do her drive-by midday on Sunday when most of the mostly on call construction workers at the DPW were likely gathered around a flat screen TV watching the pregame programming in advance of the NFL Divisional Round playoff games.

That and perhaps also indulging in pizza and coke takeout from a favored Quincy Point purveyor of such products.

So quiet were things during her drive-by shooting that her security back-up did not need to lay down any fire to cover her sweet six.

In any event, she so photo-documented how Sea Street adjacent to the DPW’s headquarters is heavily laden with pothole patches.

That and a few remaining potholes as well as a whole lot of unsealed cracks the pavement.

Granted, this run of Sea Street is slated to be redone, along with a much needed reworking of the sub-optimal intersection of Sea Street, Coddington Street, and Southern Artery after the currently under construction replacement of the Quincy Police Department’s headquarters is completed.

When, however, all of these pending projects might actually be completed as well as what might happen in the meanwhile who the Q knows?

In the meanwhile, the condition of Sea Street adjacent to the DPW’s headquarters is tacitly dropping some serious implicit shade upon the DPW.
