In the wake of yesterday’s exclusive scoop by Quincy Quarry News of the apparent seizure of a dangerous weapon at Quincy High School as well as the apparent also arrest of the likely student packing it yesterday morning, Quincy Quarry News Citizen Police Scanner Monitor has this morning picked up word over the air that Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch is in the building at Quincy High School today.
In turn, one can only reasonably assume that the also academically challenged mayor is likely to planning to stage a presser photo op at the school so as to endeavor to assuage the likelihood of mothers of Quincy High students calling for his head given that as mayor Mayor Koch is also the Chair of the Quincy School Committee.

While is likely that the visit to the scene will likely be at least partially pimped as the mayor bravely visiting the scene and then waxing idiotic about being tough on protecting students ex post facto yesterday’s most recent troubling incident at a local public school, the Quarry must point out that Quincy public schools are closed campuses as well as he the Quincy police officer assigned to Quincy High School stated over the radio that he will be tied up while Mayor Koch is in the building as opposed to undertaking usual duties so as to endeavor to protect students.

No word, however, if the Quincy Police Department will be assigning a replacement school security police officer to Quincy High School during Mayor Koch’s visit or if more likely a team of officers will instead be dispatched to assure the mayor’s safety during his visit to Quincy High School.
After all, the mayor is a big target or at least a wide one.

No one known at this point.
Gut guess: not too many people are up for running against someone who in the past has twice spent upwards of three-quarters of a million dollars in record setting spending going away on reelection campaigns.
How record setting? Koch spent more on his own campaign than the previous spending record for both candidates running for mayor in Massachusetts city other than those running for mayor of Boston. .
Also note that Koch has in the past spent as much as almost twice as much on a per resident basis than did Boston Mayor Michelle Wu in 2021.
Finally note that Koch has so spent upwards of $75 for each vote he received when he faced serious candidates.
