Yet again the T strikes out
A meme

After a quiet Thursday – for the T anyway, things returned to the same old same old on Friday.

Think regression towards the mean.

First up, around 3 pm, some fiberglass fell into the overhead power connection equipment on top of a Blue Line car and so gave rise to a disabled train near the Suffolk Downs Blue Line station.

A bus shuttle was then put into service between Wonderland Station and Orient Heights Station until regular rail service was restored around 6 pm.

Then around 6 pm, things next hit the fan for the Green Line when some other sort of power failure disabled service between the Kenmore and Government Center Green Line stations during not only the height of the evening commute but also as thousands of baseball fans were headed to Fenway Park see the Red Sox play the New York Yankees.

Zombie straphangers escaping through a Green Line tunnel

Even worse yet, the power failure left several trains disabled between the Hynes Convention Center and Kenmore station and so forced hundreds of straphangers to walk out through the dark and dank tunnels to escape.

Those who could walk, that is.

Again, a bus shuttle was implemented until regular rail service was restored around 8:30 pm.

Fortunately for baseball fans so hung out to dry by the T, the Red Sox game went into extra innings and which miraculously the Sox won with a walk-off run in the tenth inning when recently added to the Red Sox roster Tommy Pham spanked a hot shot grounder just inside the third base line for a single to the left field corner.
