Olympia Sports running out of Quincy

Olympia Sports calling it quits.
Yet another retailer in Quincy Center is throwing inn the towel.
Olympia Sports, a regional sporting goods chain and the only strictly sporting goods retail store in Quincy, will be closing up shop sometime in September.
About the only thing Quincy Quarry might care to add to this sad story is that the person assigned to check out things found the closeout markdowns slim and the selection even slimmer even even though the closing of Olympia Sports was only formally announced late last week.

Yet another business closing in Quincy. It should be noted, though, that the entire chain of Olympia Sports stores is closing.
Nevertheless, this is another business off the ever-shrinking tax rolls — either they can’t continue paying the ever-rising rents (due in large part to ever rising taxes) or the city buys or takes the property by eminent domain.
I am Sandra Colman, the only surviving member of the Colman family that owns this property. I have had nothing to do with GOOD HEALTH leaving. There is a very sad and sinister back story here which I am unable to disclose or comment on at this time. My father, Bob Colman, operated COLMAN’S Sporting Goods at 1630 Hancock Street for decades. I have the utmost respect for the family that founded GOOD HEALTH, they were way ahead of the curve and built a very successful business with a devoted following on upper Hancock Street for a very long time. I wish them continued success!
