Wood beams bracing up rusty steel beams

Do you feel lucky?

While out riding the rails today, a Quiincy Quarry News reporter noticed clear signs of deterioration of the passenger platforms at the Red Line’s Charles/MGH station.

Specifically, how wooden braces were bracing up the platform as their steel beam under structure was serious rusted.

As this station was completely redone in the early 2000/s and then reopened in the mid-2000’s, onty to now be braced reinforced with wood that clearly appears to have been in place for a while, if not a long while, one cannot help but wonder about the rest of the MBTA system.

Say what?

Quincy Quarry considered reaching out to Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch for comment as is both the Chair of the MBTA Advisory Board for over a decade as well as the senior member of the MBTA’s Board of Directors, however, the list of problems with the T are even longer.

Way longer.

And then some.
