Massachusetts doctors fear the COVID-19 pandemic may have created a nation of female problem drinkers.

A local television station has reported on physicians’ concerns that the pandemic looks to have given rise to a number of already burdened women with family concerns turning to the bottle for self-medicating stress management.

In turn, such would explain the perceived recent surge in television advertisements for in-house substance abuse recovery programs in spite of the fact that home is a major – if not the main – source of stress for many women.
