– Quincy News from Quincy Quarry News with commentary added.
Quincy continues to see COVID-19 infection rates rebound.
While admittedly local infection rates have not returned to the levels of earlier this year, the number of COVID-19 cases in Quincy continue to increase.
Currently Quincy is in the high end of the yellow range of risk per Massachusetts Department of Public Health; however, if rates continue to increase at recent and so far steady rates of increase, Quincy could join the currently sixty-three communities in the Commonwealth cited as COVID-19 Red Zones – triple the number of but several weeks ago – by the end of the month as well as right around when Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch has pressed for local public schools to return to something close to regular in classroom learning.
Quincy Quarry News considered reaching out to Mayor Koch for comment, but figured why bother knowing that a response to the Quarry was all but assuredly not gonna happen.
Instead, all that can be readily obtained is Mayor Koch’s regular and carefully scripted YouTube video in response to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s weekly COVID-19 update, including the presenting of what appears to be a cherry-picking of infection rate data which at minimum belie the 14% increase in local weekly infections reported by the Department of Public Health.
Then again, such could only be expected, not to mention that a YouTube video presentation is a perfect opportunity to duck any questioning.
