Quincy commuter parking scofflaws continue to illegally park without any fear of sanctions?
Yet again, a hardworking Smartphone Photojournalist has photo-documented parking abuse in North Quincy in the wake of first the closing of the MBTA’s Wollaston Red Line Station for reconstruction and then the closing of half of the commuter parking lot at the T’s North Quincy Red Line station so that a private developer can develop even more high-end for Quincy rental housing.

While Quincy Quarry can readily appreciate how City of Quincy parking enforcement and at last report all meter men might miss illegal parking miscreants parking illegally on side streets, there is no good excuse whatsoever for city parking enforcement personnel to miss parking scofflaws who are parking on major North Quincy streets such as Squantum street.
Granted, while the City of Quincy Department of Traffic, Parking, Alarms and Lighting may be short-handed, surely it could ask the Quincy Police Department to provide the occasional regular shift patrol police officer assigned to help out or schedule police details to help out on ticketing parking scofflaws.
Then again, mutually exclusive fiefdoms operating within their respective silos are pretty much the way of the Koch Maladministration.
That and how one readily appreciate how police officers might not care to suffer parking ticket meter person jokes in the police department’s locker room if they were to work any parking enforcement details.
Thank you for highlighting this parking problem. If possible, could you also shame the “I’m-so-important” briefcase carrying folks who park in the Thomas Crane Library lot and then head over to the courthouse. They illegally take up spots for hours and hours that are needed by library patrons, especially the parents of little ones.
If I had the time I’d hang out in the library lot and take photos of their license plates. Library staff have told me that if we provide that info to them they’ll have the scofflaws’ cars ticketed.
Ms H: thanks for the FYI and now consider the parking perps deservedly shamed.
Also, Quincy Quincy will be speaking with Jake, the library’s hardworking and very able security person ASAP
