“Assume the position …”

The City of Quincy has been spanked for illegally dumping debris next to a scenic waterfront.

In the first Quincy Quarry exposé published in 2022 hard upon the start of a new year, the Quarry has been working on this story care of one of its Citizen Journalists since last month.

The crux of this latest Quincy Quarry exposé is that a number of pick-up dump truck loads of rocky excavated material, large granite stones including used curbstones and other sorts of fabricated for construction use stone, and some mortared together chunks of bricks were found heaped in piles within as close as but a dozen or so feet away from Black’s Creek wetlands in the parking lot for the city’s recreational boathouse.

Further problematic, there was no manner of anti-runoff protective barrier such as hay bales in place and so adding to the environmental protection law violations.

In turn, after effecting a proper review to confirm the applicable laws and related regulations violations, a dime was then dropped and as a result, MassDEP then actually followed up and so directed that the debris be cleared forthwith.

Even more amazingly, the debris was then removed in relatively short order, if not especially so given back-to-back long winter holiday weekends.

Unclear, however, is if MassDEP referred this matter along to the US Environmental Protection Agency as the City of Quincy is currently subject to a manner of probation given its de facto pleading out to a $100 million consent agreement to clean up its act as regards many years of spilling sewerage effluent into Boston Harbor.

At the same time, the Quarry must concede that it did not reach out to the Koch Maladministration in City Hall for comment as to what the Q it was thinking by committing such clear violations of environmental protection laws.

An ill-advised old Facebook posting

Then again, it is not as if a response would have been provided.

Even so, the ever-growing legions of loyal Quincy Quarry readers can count on the Quarry to keep poking into the soft underbelly of the Koch Machine on this as well as all manner of misdeeds.

After all, why not pour salt onto such a blatant self-inflicted wound.
