— News and commentary about elsewhere covered by Quincy Quarry News
The senior at Large Quincy city councillor got porcine at this week’s city council meeting when he dissed the female rookie at Large city councillor later along in what was another late running council meeting.
Specifically, he said that she had a lot to learn as well as essentially added that she would be well-advised to opt to go along with the ways of Quincy’s City Hall.
The councillor’s alleged offense: seeking answers to questions about the city’s finances and which such review is part and parcel to the role of the city council.
That and by extension implying she should quietly submit to subjugation by City Hall+’s good ole boys.
Further problematic as regards the senior at Large councillor’s comments, the new councillor has a PhD in a STEM field and thus is a smart person.
A wicked smart person.
In particular, when it comes to researching a problem that needs solving.
Needless to say, the senior at large councillor’s comments gave rise to groans from those still in attendance as well as a subsequent call by the insulted councillor that the council to consider formally censuring the senior councillor over his most ill-advised comments.
In response to the pushback, the offending councillor tried to walkback his intemperate comments, however, his arguable non-apology apology was cut short by the chair as a call for censure was on the table.
Further, the offender’s diss is unlikely to be excused as matter of needing something to eat as the meeting was running longer than during previous sessions of the city council when going along to get along often enough saw city council meetings wrap up in half an hour or less.
Further, adding this latest intemperate stepping to previous steppings into it by this councillor can only lead one to suspect that he has pretty set the stage for the end of his of his career as a local elected official early on in his current and now ever more likely to be his final term in office in what has been at best a less then noteworthy career in office.

DiBona is a certified Koch kultist. It appears he is the last Koch Super Fan sitting on the Council. His slap down of Yuan was sexist, racist, and most importantly Kochist. He obviously has little patience for an Asian woman who does her homework. He basically told her that homework was not required because Koch gives you the answers. Can we organize recall elections for both him and the mayor?
Further, the tension in the room was palpable. Backwalker is constantly looking over peoples’ shoulders to see what their papers say. He is extremely nervous at these meetings. He knows the end is nigh and it visibly affects him.
Censure away!
These days Walkbacker is more nervous than a Chihuahua let out to pee, only to find a pack of coyotes circling him and licking their chops.
It’s going to take a little while before Dopey DiBona’s pea brain figures out that the rubber stampers are gone. He is intimidated by strong and smart women councilors. His disrespect toward them is appalling and I agree a sanction should be imposed on his pompous arse.
In fairness to Boner, hizzoner the Lord Mayor is even more flummoxed by as well as is condescending towards smart and strong women, a verity which he yet again displayed during Monday night’s council meeting before Boner’s faux pas.
I totally agree with you 👍 💯!!!
DiBoner should step down. Simple. He’s been consistently disruptive since the new council has been sworn in. It’s clear that he has nothing of substance to offer, but is doing everything he can to further and protect the Lord Mayor’s dubious policies. Is that what those who voted for him voted for?
Unfortunately he has gone to the “Dark Side” and has ruined his political career.
Damn straight he has crossed over to the Dark Side. Even better, he was had for short money.
He ran for the office to be the Norfolk County Registrar of Deeds and I never saw any campaign activity by him outside of Quincy. He is known as the person he is. He’s got no place else to go but Quincy. His ego will not allow him to see the image in the mirror.
Quin,
No offense, but you are assuming that mirrors reflect his image.
The Quincy Puppet Show: From Lenny & Squiggy to the High Court — talk about cringe.
If you ever find yourself feeling too optimistic about the democratic process, I highly recommend tuning into a Quincy City Council meeting. It is the ultimate cure for hope. Watching Noel DiBona occupy a seat on that council is a masterclass in the absurd —- a performance only rivaled by the sight of Jim Timmins loitering at the Mass Supreme Court the other day. As a competent attorney actually did the heavy lifting of arguing the city’s statue case, there sat Timmins, looking about as vital to the proceedings as a bow ornament on a sinking ship. z
It’s a nostalgic kind of incompetence, really. It takes us back to the golden era of Noel DiBona and James Devine, the “Lenny and Squiggy” of last year’s council. It was a simpler time: every time they opened their mouths, you could practically see the ventriloquist strings pulling from the Fire and Police union halls.
Their “contributions” weren’t so much speeches as they were scripted press releases read with all the nuance of a ransom note spouted on command. The cringe peaked last week when DiBona took a trip down memory lane, waxing poetic about the “old times” on the Council.
As he spoke, one couldn’t help but wonder how proud Saint Coletta’s Day School must have been of their former Valedictorian. In a city where the Mayor’s office usually functions as if it owns the deed to every seat in the chamber, the current Council’s refusal to be bought or controlled is a glitch in the Matrix. It’s “refreshing,” sure, in the same way a bucket of ice water to the face is refreshing while you’re trying to sleep.
For the first time in years, Koch can’t just tap his checkbook to get a unanimous “Amen.”
Dim should just stick to droning along at the Quincy/N. Quincy Thanksgiving day football game.
Dim should drop the asking prices of his condos so he can sell at least one and get away from the interest expense eating his project. He won’t because he is one pig-headed mule.
And as for practicing law, he needs practice but instead just hires competent people and we pay for it. He is more of a traffic cop than an Attorney. He has a pinky shake agreement with Tommy and has destroyed any legal reputation he may have had. His career as a Lawyer working in the Courts is over.
He is known for pushing cases that have no merit and so wastes the court’s time with his BS. See the Long Island Bridge debacle, which he is destined to lose (and blame someone else). The bridge was a previously existing, non-conforming structure. All land court cases I have seen confirm that Boston has grounds to rebuild but Dim cannot grasp that and keeps wasting taxpayer money and the court’s time.
Judges hate such tactics. In the meantime, he has a $6 million note out there on his unsold spec build condoa that is eating him from the inside out. His development skills, aren’t skills at all. 1.5 years to build 15 units is really sad. I wonder who his financial partners are and why they haven’t started screaming yet.
It’s the same bank the City of Quincy uses for some of its accounts. Funny how that happens.
“He is known for pushing cases that have no merit and so wastes the court’s time with his BS.”
Exactly.
Is there a saint of lost causes? Dim might convince the Lord Mayor to commission one just for him!
Fredzo,
Ask and you shall receve.
St Francis Thaddeus is the patron saint of lost causes.
At the same time, invoking him when the causes are not good ones would be sacrilege.
