This evening at 6 pm the Rebel Alliance and others will be sworn into office as Quincy City Councillors.
The super majority of impending new Quincy City councillors scored a likely unexpected blowout of Koch Machine tools on city council stools in last November’s local elections.
Even more problematic for Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch, the outsized majority of incoming new councillors oppose many of his policies as well as that the one remaining Koch vassal on the council has attempted to change horses in the face of a torrent of adverse public opinion against the mayor over his making all manner of messes in Quincy.
Further problematic for the mayor, a returning rookie independent is expected to side with the rebels on at least some matters coming before the council.
The new councillors won the old fashioned way by focusing on door knocking and so wearing out shoe leather against incumbents who loaded up local mail carriers with flyers that did not fly.
After all, with a super majority of opponents to Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch coming onto the city council as well as that a simple majority of his impending opponents on the council are female.
Further, State Auditor DiZoglio and who is well-known for taking names, numbers, and no prisoners, slated to be the keynote speaker tonight, one can only assume that flop sweating by longtime city hall good old boys will not only be free-flowing at to night’s installation of the new city councillors as well as continue on at least a few occasions going forward.
Also, for some commit relief, an out of town Tarot Card reader and those fortune teller is endeavoring to organize a protest in support of the banal, bare-chested, buff, and arguably homoerotic statues which the court has enjoined Mayor Koch from installing on the yet to be completed new City of Quincy public safety headquarters.
Needless to say, covering events this year and next year in Quincy’s City Hall is sure to be fraught with interesting events to report.

At least those who have gotten political favors from Tom got to show Their homage last night by marching and protesting in support of his million dollar statues. Who knew that QPD and QFD members were so religious? Who is the patron saint of police details? Why not a statue of a saint with a cell phone to his ear and wearing an orange vest standing somewhere other than where traffic is backed up to commemorate QPD detail officers?
I must add that more than statues are needed. For example, an amended Ten Commandments would have been more fitting to hang on the public safety building and noting such adds as “Thou shalt not sex message vulnerable females,” “Thou shalt not collect the Quinn Bill with a fake degree,” Thou shalt not steal (copper).” “Thou shalt make donations to Mayor Koch to ensure promotions,” “Thou shalt not honor deceased donors with comped police motorcycle escorts.” and “Thou shalt not alter police reports to ensure family members get hired.”
In short, we could so have BOTH beautiful and meaningful art!
By the way, we got a new got a new fire chief but no mention of a retirement or hiring process for his replacement. All kept quiet — hmmm?!?!?!?
In any event, Happy Property Tax Bill Season!!!
Was Lea DeGloria the ringleader of the “march” last night? If so, doesn’t she live in Weymouth?
John,
The Patriot Ledger reported that Ms. DeGloria was the organizer of the protest, however, the Mayor’s wife as well as one of his nephew’s who is the firefighters local shop steward were also actively involved.
Perhaps more importantly, are you aware of how Ms. DeGloria’s avocation as a Tarot Card reader is viewed as a divination by the Roman Catholic Church and thus viewed as a major sin?
Send the statues to Hegseth, he likes those kind of guys.
The Mayor’s wife was quoted in the Ledger regarding the statues: ”There’s two sides. It’s not always the way it appears.” Sort of like La Kocha Nostra! It might seem like his wife, kids, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends all have a city job but according to Christine, “it’s not always the way it appears.”
Her brother was named police chief under her husband, she works a city job, her sister is an administrator at Quincy College ( nursing program — not her specialty) her nephew managed to get promoted to detective while texting a vulnerable person like he was on Only Fans, and there are more city jobs on her side! On Tom’s side of the family the city payroll looks like Ancestry.com!
But don’t worry, Christine Koch said ”it’s not always the way it appears.” Because when I got my tax Bill the other day it appears I am subsidizing the Koch/Keenan pension system. And it might “appear” it was the Mayor’s nephew who is in favor of the statues and who happens to be the Fire Union President,
Just remember, in Quincy, “it’s not always the way it appears.”
Kocha,
Didn’t you know that the City of Quincy is a family business?
Seriously, be nice to Chief Kennedy if for no other reason than he shivved Randy Andy. Similarly, Chief Gary is only an acting Chief.– Tommy Jr has a ways to go before he might be greased into the job.
