Quincy Massachusetts News, Opinion, and Commentary by Quincy Quarry News
Quincy Police radio chatter was fast and furious late Thursday afternoon just as the evening commute was ramping up to its usual level of congestion.
So fast and furious was the radio chatter that the Quincy Quarry News City Editor dispatched personnel to the crash scene.
So then found by Quarry personnel on the scene was a small SUV that had been “T-boned” by another ride at the traffic light signnalized intersection of Southern Artery and Edison Park just before Southern Artery makes a bend so as to then intersect with nearby Washington Street.
The boning ride, however, was most curiously nowhere to be seen.
In any event, word on the street was that the boner had ran a red light at this less than well traffic-signaled intersection.
Quincy’s own Bermuda Triangle of bad driving and perpetual gridlock. Nothing screams ‘evening rush hour’ like a fender-bender clogging up an already hopeless stretch of road. Was it another epic battle between someone merging without looking and a commuter glued to their phone? Or perhaps the usual overconfident SUV trying to outmaneuver the world’s slowest left-turner? Either way, it’s time we accept that navigating the Southern Artery at 5 PM is less about driving and more about survival skills. Pro tip: pack snacks and patience, folks—you’re gonna need them.
No driver would ever run a red light in Quincy! Also, no driver would ever run through a Stop sign in Quincy!
