Mosquitos bite.
Even worse, at least some mosquitos in Quincy were recently found to be carrying West Nile Virus, the first such finding of the season in Massachusetts.
Worse yet, West Nile Virus is an untreatable and on occasion fatal virus.
Further ugly, given a mild winter and a wet spring such will all but assuredly make for a banner year for mosquitos in at least Eastern Massachusetts just as we all head into prime time for getting out and about, grilling and chilling in the backyard, and otherwise enjoying the warm time of the year.
Accordingly, stock up on DEET-based and other mosquito repellents as well as be sure to then use them properly.
After all, climate change notwithstanding, the warm season in New England is still short enough without also losing weeks seriously sick care of a mosquito bite.
