This week in Quincy started out with Hollywood returning to Quincy on Tuesday to film some  location shoots of “pick-ups” for an in the works buddy film starring BFF’s Casey Affleck and Matt Damon.

That and perhaps also for some early in the morning eye opening shots by at least some of the film crew at a local dive bar used for on location shoots.

Speaking of bars, an Allston-based developer with interests in Quincy came out with a proposal to go well — “diverse” by establishing a “space space” for the LBGT+ community at his long-shuttered for cause Allston nightclub.

The motivation for his announced plan to change: to endeavor to convince the Boston Licensing Board to not revoke his nightclub’s liquor license for cause after years of multiple violations including gun violence.

The proposal did not go well with the licensing board.  The key reason was that he was supposed to be presenting his last chance opportunity to introduce a third party for consideration to take over the liquor license; however, he instead came with a fanciful plan that he had lined up unnamed club management to operate a LGBT+ friendly music venue but he would be retaining ownership of the license.

Needless to say, the licensing board was not amused with the developer coming out with an out of the blue proposal late in the game so as to try to skirt a de facto mandate from the licensing board to sell his liquor license to an independent party or see it revoked without seeing any compensation for it.

Similarly, the proposal was shot down by some claiming to members of the community as scamming an “LBGT+ washing of his past failings to properly run his nightclub as well as see it not become a dangerous public nuisance.
