— Quincy Massachusetts News by Quincy Quarry News – News, Opinion and Commentary
Quincy Quarry’s First Responder Desk Editor has noticed in recent weeks that the Quincy Police Department has been assigning a cruiser to pull over traffic law violators on one of the more problematic runs of road in Quincy.
While mostly apparently only issuing warnings to traffic law scofflaws, doing something about drivers driving in often flagrant disregard of the rules of the road is still a positive step given the long ongoing as well as pervasive worsening of the things on the mean streets of Quincy.
In turn, one cannot help but also wonder if perhaps the Quincy Police Department might have been able to score some grant funding from the feds or the Commonwealth to support this traffic safety intervention.
After all, with a new police chief, perhaps the police department is now more readily able to score grant funding for traffic safety initiatives which typically entail overtime funding for the officers involved.
Unclear, however, is how long will this initiative last or if might be implemented along the many other dangerous roadways in the Q.
Regardless — for now anyway, it is good to see the Quincy Police Department cracking down on both traffic as well as trafficking scofflaws.
Good news, of course. But the smart money says that Quincy will continue to be the illegal U-turn capital of Massachusetts — if not the US.
Additionally, neither drivers nor pedestrians have figured out those ridiculous traffic lights — red, yellow and green are more than adequate for the rest of the country but not for the Q. The traffic patterns, road markings ,and signage are confounding enough without the added confusion of traffic light roulette.
Louie,
I would assume that you are familiar with the practice of doing whatever so as to affect actually doing something.
Absolutely!
Don’t forget the constant illegal “Y” turns on side streets.
