This year Veterans Day falls on a weekend.

As such, over this weekend consider taking the time to offer up prayers by those who pray and/or otherwise think about those who did not come home in the same condition as when they deployed.

That and also for all of those not in uniform who have had to carry on as a result of the all too often permanent impacts of war.

After all, speeches, parades, and thank yous for your service fall short of ameliorating the horrors of war for those who have faced it firsthand.

Often well short as well as off the mark.

And for a sense of it all, consider streaming They Shall Not Grow Old, a documentary produced to underscore the centenary of the end of World War i on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918.

The war that was supposed to be the war to end all wars.
