Barring for but a couple of examples, choking on a skinless chicken finger, something serious behind the clear facial indications of perhaps taking serious medication more frequently than in years past, or perhaps an investigation, Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch won reelection this past Tuesday.
As such, he will be extending his already record-setting tenure as well as profligate maladministration of the City of Quincy.
While many locals would have preferred to see otherwise, with Mayor Koch unleashing an over million dollar tsunami of a reelection campaign largely funded by out of town and thus surely special interests, the final outcome was only to be expected.
And as for the campaign propaganda so foisted, rarely have even the old hands at Quincy Quarry seen so many false narratives as well as an equally disingenuous going negative inflicted upon an opponent.
In any event, the Koch Machine dug hard for the votes and so scored the mayor his usual 10% margin when challenged by a solid opponent.
Then again, practice does makes perfect even if this about the only thing the Koch Machine can accomplish on schedule and given the gobsmacking majority out of town interests funding his massive campaign war chest and thus having expectations of favors in return for providing the means to be able to engage in carpet bombing facts into oblivion as well as delay game all sorts of impending bad news.
And speaking of spending, next month the City Council will have to approve the 2024 property tax rate increases needed to fully fund Mayor Koch’s record-breaking near 10% spending increase via his Fiscal Year 2024 budget from what was at least near previous record setting Fiscal Year 2023 spending.
Quincy Quarry News is long on record as expecting 7.5% floor increase as the likely floor barring secret honey pot or yet again tapping the City of Quincy’s meager reserves with an 8.5% increase the projected median expectation.
Needless to say, Quincy Quarry’s ever-growing legions of loyal readers can count on it to be covering next month’s property tax rate setting city council hearing.
