In a feelgood story more typically out of Tinseltown comes a story reported by the regional PBS broadcast station about a plucky movie lover’s efforts to bring back the screening of movies to Worcester.

Worcester is the second largest city in the Commonwealth but it no longer has a movie theater.

With a population of 200,000 and over 35,000 college students, Worcester is also the largest city the United States without a movie theater.

To this sorry state of affairs, Andy Grigorov, founder of Cinema Worcester, is out to change things for big screen movie lovers.

Grigorov has been hosting pop-up movie screenings in Worcester whenever and wherever he can line up a venue as well as is currently seeking to score a permanent venue in Worcester Center, a part of Wusta that has enjoyed considerable redevelopment in recent years and which locals have for the most part enjoyed, unlike the case with recent new developments in Quincy.

Worcester Center has also seen a dramatic uptick in new things for locals to enjoy in recent years such as the Worcester Red Sox, also unlike Quincy.

After all, there is only so much to be said about streaming video at home.
