A Quincy Quarry News Public Service warning about an impending national emergency alert is scheduled for around 2:20 pm today.

The reason for this warning about the alert?

On top of the usual “This is a test” message interrupting regular radio and television programming, this “President Alert” will entail including even more distraction on cellphones.

Specifically, in addition to an audio announcement of the alert via cellphones, some reports indicate that cellphones will vibrate even if one has turned off vibrate notification as well as that this alert will even trigger at least an audio notification of some sort or another on cellphones that are turned off when the alert is transmitted.

Needless to say, those who find vibrating phone notifications distracting or who expect to be in a meeting when the alert goes out might want to distance themselves from their phones from 2:15 pm to 2:45 pm this afternoon, if not also distance themselves as well as possible from any and all cellphones.
