Gathered turtleheads picketing and protesting

The pugnacious to say the least Aidan Kearney who runs the controversial blog TurtleBoy Sports came to Quincy Wednesday to protest the Norfolk County District Attorney’s prosecution of Karen Reed on the charge of Second Degree Murder of a Boston cop and thus now her former boyfriend last year in Canton.

As many know, this case has been the subject of considerable dispute with much of dispute broached via TurtleBoy Sports and thus the Quarry will not add to it at this time.

What the Quarry will instead do is offer up its reporting on the protest led by “Doctor Turtleboy.”

Revolution, revolting — whatever …

Quincy Quarry dispatched appropriated experienced personnel to cover the protest and the Quarry personnel strapped on Kevlar® after all, fair is only fair as turtles have personal armor — as well as packed along onetime use teargas masking in an abundance of caution.

The caution turned out to be unnecessary, however.

The Quarry found Dr. Turtleboy protesting and roughly sixty turtle riders picketing outside of Quincy’s Adams Inn located adjacent to the Neponset Bridge yesterday evening and where Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey was hosting his annual summer barbecue for his associates and friends.

Loud assembly of protesters notwithstanding, the peace looked to have been at least otherwise assisted by the at least five Quincy police officers assigned to keep the peace.

Police presence notwithstanding, Quarry personnel easily managed to get up close even if not quite personal moments before the official start of District Attorney Morrissey’s barbecue.

For examples, tables were so found set and the barkeeps finishing up with final preparations.

The Quarry also photographed the ample backside of the District Attorney Morrissey even if this showing was but inadvertent as opposed to purposefully done to the Quarry’s personnel by the DA.

So otherwise uneventful were things, the Quarry personnel on the scene left early so as to assure not ended up arrested.

That and why stick around given that the Quarry’s exemplary ethical standards precluded the Quarry personnel covering the story from chowing on any of the food laid out at this event, much less downing any of the adult libations available?

Plus, the Quarry personnel had an attending the event source and thus retreated to neutral site watering hole to debrief the day’s events as well as await word from the mole.

The Quarry’s source reported an ebb and flow of barbecue attendees ranged from an estimated 150 to as many as 200 during the couple of hours that the Quarry’s mole was in attendance.

Additionally, the mole reported that District Attorney Morrissey was chill, in good spirits, as well as looking to be not at all bothered by the somewhat nearby picket line of turtle riders.

The mole further reported that while mayoral candidate Anne Mahoney was in attendance, current City of Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch was nowhere to be seen.

In short, so much for taking up an opportunity to ask that (free, ed.) skinless chicken fingers be tossed onto the barbie.

Then again, as Mayor Koch can readily hide himself at a crowded event, perhaps the mayor kept an ever lower profile than his vertical profile at this event.

Further, no one from within La Kocha Nostra’s inner circle was seen at the event.

Rumor has it that Koch’s chicken boyos did not care to risk a confrontation with Turtleboy or have their rides’ license plate numbers recorded by turtle riders.

That or are simply uncomfortable around prosecutors.

In any event, Quincy Quarry’s ever-growing legions of loyal readers should keep it in mind that the Quarry will be monitoring the DA’s required campaign fund monthly report filings with the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance.

Why do so?

To see if the district attorney had his campaign fund pay for a detailing of Quincy police officers to protect his event or if perhaps the police protection for this private event may have instead been comped as a solid by the Koch Machine on the down low.
