– News from elsewhere covered by Quincy Quarry News with commentary added

Quincy Quarry’s media colleagues at MASSterList.com just posted its MBTA Watch scorcecard about the sorry state of the MBTA.

MASSterList’s MBTA Watch scorecard follows.

  • Days since the last derailment, fire, falling debris, or (other such, ed.) critical incident: 5
  • Days with localized speed restrictions:11 (actually much longer ongoing per other “descriptions,” ed.)
  • Days without “normal” weekday subway service: 273
  • On Jan. 5, Governor Healey pledged to hire a new MBTA Transportation Safety Chief within 60 days. It has now been 74 days without the position being filled (see Quincy Quarry’s Coverage here).

About all that Quincy Quarry would care to add is that it saw no point reaching out to Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch for comment even though he is also the over decade-long Chair of MBTA Advisory Board, the entity that is supposed to advocate for improving service in communities served by the MBTA as well as that he is also the senior member of the MBTA’s Board of Directors.

Reasons include for not bothering to reach out to him for comment include that not only does he have a long history of ducking culpability, at this time he surely especially hunkered down given his now said to be on hold for now plans to bury Quincy native and renowned stage and screen actress Ruth Gordon by filling in the charming amphitheater built in her honor at Pageant Field and where she loved to spend time as a child.

- FYI, not my fault. - No, of course it's not, dear.
