Quincy cops flop in traffic law enforcement sting.
After years of not doing much of anything about the dangerous for pedestrians intersection of Elm Street with Washington Street, the Quincy Police Department opted to endeavor a traffic law enforcement sting on Thursday..
The pretext for the sting was based upon a officer in plain clothes endeavoring to cross the street at the traffic control light signaled crosswalk without getting whacked.
While the office was not whacked, neither were any drivers who did not abide by the crosswalk light pulled over and then cited.
Even worse, the operation snarled traffic while it was underway.
Then again, it was no clear how much this flop of a sting actually slowed up traffic.
After all, it is hard to slow up local traffic any further from its current crawl.
On the other hand, however, worsening pedestrian safety in Quincy is tragically all too readily possible.
Happy to learn the Quincy police showed some face; however, more must be done to safeguard pedestrian crossing Washington Street at Elm Street.
Further, more enforcement is needed to stop the numerous drivers that ignore the One Way and Do Not Enter signs on the corner of Washington Street and Elm.
As Elm Street has no sidewalks along the One Way, there is little room for pedestrians to dodge cars and trucks.
I work at an office on the corner of Washington and Elm Streets, and honestly, it was painful watching those lazy cops kill time.
We pay our cops well; I expect more effort and less time playing on the phone from our police officers.
Let’s hope the Quincy Police does a better job next time!
Unmasking the city’s hardworking undercover police officers is a new low for the Quincy Quarry!
Burning plain clothes cops for your BS hit piece endangers lives!
I’ve reported your tweet and am looking forward to your Twitter account being banned permanently.
Pork Chop,
There is a HUGE difference between cops in plain clothes and those working undercover. For example, plain clothes officers are easier to spot than a person of color at Quincy’s Elks’ Lodge.
Great start regarding someone finally speaking up about the lack of the police paying the least little bit of attention to what’s going on out there.
I’ve been walking about 4 miles daily for about 15 years now & have never ever seen anyone stopped/pulled over for going through Red Lights, taking rights where it says No Right On Red, people constantly playing on their Cell Phones, unlicensed unregistered unwhatever motorscooters doing whatever they want & where ever they want (I have one literally come up behind me on the sidewalk & beep at me to get out of the way), etc.
Regarding the absolute “I’m very important & going to do anything I want” attitudes of the people just doing whatever they want & especially the cell phone users (seeing that “not even touching your phone” while driving has been in full effect as a law for about 3 years now, I just think a common sense idea to maybe help the taxpayers out & maybe even have enough left over for the mayor to buy some more buildings, only this time not with the taxpayers actually paying the bills by writing some hefty tickets for all these infractions.
I have literally gone up to police cars sitting in traffic & asked why they weren’t pursuing or doing anything about someone that had just almost hit me c walking as they went through a Red light or No Right On Red & they get mad at me & basically tell me to get lost via their attitudes. I guess they probably think I shouldn’t be telling them how to do their jobs, seeing that nobody else seems to be either.
What’s it going to take?!?
Bravo, Laj!
I believe it will take a new police chief from outside “the family” and department!
