Quincy Statehouse Delegation Report Cards Released
– News about Quincy Massachusetts from Quincy Quarry News with commentary added
Report cards on the entire membership of the Great and General Court were recently released by Progressive Massachusetts.
For all of the perception that Massachusetts is a deep Blue and de facto single party state, Progressive Massachusetts’ scorecard ratings hint at otherwise.
While the Democratic Party currently holds all statewide offices and overwhelming control of both chambers of the state legislature, Progressive Massachusetts’ overall ratings of state legislators averaged out to middle of the road moderates – by Massachusetts standards anyway.
“(Progressive Massachusetts’ ratings) … show a decidedly centrist Legislature … A plurality in both the House and Senate earned Cs, and more than half of lawmakers in each branch – 97 in the House and 22 in the Senate – were given a grade of C or lower … (Further, o)nly 11 lawmakers in the House and Senate earned A’s from the group …”
Granted, Progressive Massachusetts’ expectations are, well, skewed to the far left to reflect its agendas, its overall moderate at best rating of the state legislature is still surprising.
Further note that Quincy’s four State House Representatives and one State Senator all had the same overall grades: a C+ and thus a tad less moderate but still moderate at best nonetheless.
In turn, given the consistent C+ rating for each of Quincy’s five member statehouse delegation – one of whom is the Speaker of the State House and who has so far not been subject to any rumors of disconcerting investigations, so far anyway for a change for Massachusetts Speakers of the House – can only properly behoove Quincy Quarry News to point out that their grades suggest gentleman C’s if for no other reason that there are no female members of Quincy’s statehouse delegation.
Then again, things can always be worse and as they all too often: on the local level, only one female was among the top one hundred highest paid city employees in Calendar Year 2021, the most recent year that payroll data are available to the public, as well as that women are also not all that well-represented among the 627 City of Quincy employees who made were paid more than $100,000 in 2021.
In short, as well as yet again, Only in Quincy©.
