Actually, Nacho Day fails on a football game day five out of seven years what with games played five days a week.

Then again, failing on an NFL Sunday is muy especial.

Plus, nachos are as American as hot dogs are at a baseball game as the first confirmed mention of nachos dates back to 1943 at the Victory Club in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico and thus just across the border from Eagle Pass, Texas, USA.

This classic Tex-Mex dish was created by Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya in response to an ask for something simple but tasty from a gringa regular at this restaurant .

Conversely, most every elsewhere in Mexico the closest thing to nachos are known as totopas.
