Lawrence, on the other hand, just broke ground on a but $60 million new police headquarters that will see eighty-two percent of the cost subsidized by the state

Quincy, on the other hand, has to date not announced that it will be seeing any state funding on its costs rocketing out of control costs per the Koch Maladministration’s koched-up usual.

How outsized, if not also out of control, are the costs on Quincy’s pending new police headquarters? 

On a per square foot basis, Quincy will be pending half again as much than Lawrence is planning to spend.

For further metrics, Lawrence has 80% of the population of Quincy as well as higher rates of crime than Quincy..  

At the same time, Lawrence has roughly has but half as many police officers as does Quincy.

Accordingly, it is hard to fathom why City of Quincy taxpayers should be on the hook for a three times more expensive new police headquarters on a project total cost basis or roughly sixteen times cost as much on a local taxpayer-funded basis as compared to what Lawrence taxpayers will be funding to pay for its pending new police headquarters.

Then again, the Quincy Police Department needed a sizeable new parking garage to not only secure its fleet of police cruisers, but also its motor pool reserves of surplus military Humvees as well as the “Bearcat,” the Quincy Police Department’s armored urban assault SWAT vehicle.
