In news just hitting the fan, the MBTA is considering shutting down Orange Line rail service for a (currently, ed.) projected month so as to (perhaps, ed.) be able to endeavor a one and down makeover of primarily track and train control equipment.

A less drastic plan, at least as regards impacting strap hangers, was to go with a partial shutdown overnight work plan; however, it was recently postponed in favor of starting a similar overnight work on the Red Line, work that then suffered a huge fail on the very first overnight work session as well as that an Orange Line train recently burst into flames during a morning commute.

The MBTA Board of Directors has a meeting scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday) and the meeting’s very first agenda item up for discussion is a proposed contact with a private bus company that would provide replacement shuttle bus service for the Orange Line during its now-expected makeover shutdown.

As this is a breaking badly bad news story, count on Quincy Quincy Quarry News to monitor this latest MBTA Charlie Foxtrot.

For example, given that the possible shutting down of the Qrange Line rail service broke this evening and an MBTA Board of Directors meeting is set for first thing tomorrow morning, Quincy Quarry News was not able to reach out to Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch for comment as he is also both the decade-long Chair of the MBTA Advisory Board as well as the senior member of the MBTA Board of Directors for comment, not the would ever make himself available to the Quincy Quarry to answer questions.
