– News about Quincy Massachusetts from Quincy Quarry News
Water pirates take advantage of churches’ garden hoses during heat wave.
Two Quincy Center churches were tapped for water by people out and about who apparently were looking to cool off and/or perhaps bath during at least the final days of the just ended nine day heat wave that left many in Eastern Massachusetts sweltering.
Additionally, while out and about on the mean and recently otherwise bone dry streets of Quincy shortly after 6:30 this morning, a Quincy Quarry staffer saw what appeared to be a couple of peeps finishing up after cleaning up al fresco at a funeral home on Elm Street in Quincy Center across the street from former City of Quincy Department of Public Works Commissioner Dan “Spanky” Raymondi.
For reasons obvious, Quincy Quarry will not name the two churches as churches can only properly provide sanctuary to those in need; at the same time, it would have been appreciated if those using church garden hoses to cool off and/or bath would have turned off the spigots after hosing themselves down and so not waste water.
That or instead use Kim Jong Koch Plaza’s tribute to the Dancing Waters at Las Vegas’ Bellegio Hotel.

Great article!
Quincy center desperately needs a public bathhouse!
Too many unhoused people are living on our streets. Further, human feces is a common sight on many of our streets, parks, and private property.
Father Bill’s does a fantastic job, but many choose not to utilize their facility for numerous reasons.
An accessible public LGBTTTQQIAA-friendly bathhouse with free-to-use bathrooms, showers, and laundry facility is very much needed.
If the city’s COVID money from the state has already been spent on other needed projects, I pray that our good Quincy Mayor Tom Koch can get financial help from the MBTA, local business leaders, non-profits, city churches, and some of the mayor’s wealthy friends to contribute to such a needed and good cause.
Build back better – and smarter!
Love your website and thank you for allowing me to share my opinion.
Cassidy & Donald,
Great suggestion!!! Ever better, such trailers exist and are used in other communities. There are at least toilet and sink trailers available for rent in the Metro Boston area and probably at least a few shower units. And laundry services should be an easy peasy to arrange for relatively short money given the will to do so.
Also, the use of federal COVID money would be kosher to do so as such efforts would surely qualify as public health positive.
Wow, thank you for your encouraging response.
A few of these trailers placed around the city would be incredible.
We pray there are still COVID funds available.
Thank you, and God Bless.
Today I got a call from a neighbor (across the street) who is a city employee asking if my husband or I had left a comment on the Quincy Quarry website.
I confirmed to my neighbor that I left the comment and how delighted I was that the editor took the time to leave me a positive reply.
My neighbor told me that a few of his colleagues at work got a good chuckle over my comment and labeled me a crazy moonbat.
What could be funny about my statement?
Do these people not see the unhoused people roaming our city streets? How do these city hall employees think these people care for themselves?
I apologize for venting; the insensitivity is wrong, especially from public servants. I pray for those who mocked me today and hope they do not find themselves homeless one day.
I agree with your comments and suggestions. The truth is that homeless people don’t contribute to the Mayor’s campaign fund, only developers, city consultants, city employees, and Koch addicts! Quincy needs affordable housing and more services for those facing homelessness and addiction issues. The city employees follow the Mayor’s lead.
C & D,
It is inexcusable to be subjected to such uncivil behavior from civil servants. Then again, Quincy Quarry personnel have long observed and/or been aware of such behavior by the top of Koch Machine foodchain as far back as when our peerless mayor was already in over his head running the Park & Rec Department.
Do you remember the good ole days when the YMCA had bed space and membership was affordable?
Koch and the city counsil have more concern for stray dogs and cats than people.
Mayor should ask the homeless to bathe around the city’s newly planted trees!
A soap dispenser is needed at the Kim Jong Koch Plaza’s water feature.
Complimentary towels would be a bonus.
Say, are there public restrooms in city hall? After all, city hall belongs to the people of the city.
Is there not a closed bathhouse on Wolly Beach next to the Clam Box?
