Quincy Quarry News Weekly Fish Wrap: Dogs, Dollars and Fires oh my!

Things heated up in Quincy this past week.

Heated up a whole lot as well as not in good ways.

For starters, not that many locals knew it unless they are Quincy Quarry readers as Quincy Access Television continues to not steam live coverage of Quincy City Council meetings, the council is looking to formally approve the well beyond wicked expensive koched-up plan for a new Quincy Animal Control facility next week.

One will be a temporary facility at a site that is frequently enough flooded during high water events.

Fortunately, most dogs like to swim.

Unfortunately, however, cats not so much.

And the other, a nearly $20 million permanent facility on top of Quarry Street.

Of further troubling concern, the plans for the latter facility set a new record for over-the-top spending by the long-known to be extravagantly profligate Koch Maladministration.

A blowing well past over-the-top five-alarm fire new record as a matter of unarguable fact.

For starters, it will cost four times what Milton will be spending on its impending new animal control on a per square foot basis.  So what, apparently. for the fact that Quincy is using the same designer.

The cost of the new facility will be running close to what Father Bill’s is spending on its under-construction new homeless shelter on a per “guest” basis.

Also, as one Quincy Quarry New commenter noted, the rife with expensive design feature facility that is slated to be built in an out-of-the-way location within a densely treed green space is a more attractive and interesting building than anything that has been built within Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s so-called “New Quincy Center” Quincy Center.

And for another example of the Koch Machine burning through money, Mayor Koch’s beloved Flag Day but ultimately self-promoting activities by someone who clearly dreams of being a high-stepping and fabulously attired drum major went three for three at giving rise to a wildfire on Pine Island within the Black’s Creek estuary.
