Quincy Flag Day Pine Island fires set a record!

While researching archives and such, Quincy Quarry’s latest unpaid and overworked intern discovered that last weekend’s Flag Day wildfire on Pine Island set a record.

While not over consecutive years, last weekend’s wildfire on Pine Island was the third such fire in a row on Flag Day in Quincy.

In 2018, the Pine Island fire was said to have likely been started by an out-of-control campfire that was probably lit by youth as a part of their plans to watch the Flag Day fireworks.

Flag Day 2019 featured a fireworks-started Pine Island fire.

Flag Day 2020 was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic and so putting the string of Flag Day fires on hold.

For Flag Day 2021, the fireworks were moved to Quincy Bay and so further keeping the string of Pine Island fires on hold.

And this year’s Pine Island Flag Day Fire made it three for three even if not over consecutive years

In short, Only in Quincy© can one see a trifecta over five years, among other things also gobsmacking.

Needless to say, Quincy Quarry News considered reaching out to Quincy’s arsonist in chief for comment, however, one can only imagine that he has been unavailable given ongoing interrogations by the State Fire Marshal.
