– News about Quincy Massachusetts from Quincy Quarry News.
Quincy City Hall’s Snow pile past quietly overnight last night.
It is with great regret that Quincy Quarry must report that the snow pile In front of Old City Hall is no more.
Better known as the Mount Koch Glacier in the Quincy Quarry newsroom, the wide but not especially tall show pile was a source of great amusement for both the Quarry news crew, small children as well as likely others.
The end came shortly after the snow pile had lasted until the start of spring year yesterday.
The official cause of the end was climate change and which as near as Quincy Quarry News can tell was the first such end in the history of Quincy of a formally named local glacier.
In lieu of flowers or donations, it is suggested to show a higher level of respect for the ice cooling one’s adult libations going forward.
My condolences. The city did its best to keep the pile alive; however, its time was up.
Mount Koch will not be missed.
