Quincy City Hall Snow Piles survived the warm weather!

As the sun set yesterday evening, Quincy Quarry News personnel swung by Kim Jong Koch Plaza to check the status of the snow piles that have remained along the plaza since mid-January’s Bombogenesis Blizzard.

While the pile near the banal statute of President John Adams has melted away given its warmer and sunny placement, the mounds adjacent to old City Hall and the statute of Continental Congress President John Hancock were found to be hanging on as the weather turned cold in advance of today’s snowstorm.

While not as bodacious mounds as they once were, the remaining snow mounds have managed to last long enough for likely replenishment care of today’s now expected to be a middling and wet snowfall. and followed by a cold snap until early inext week.

At the same time, the condition of the mounds clearly indicated shortcomings by Kim Johg Koch Plaza’s Snow Team Six.

Obvious problems include the following.

One is the size of the mounds was so reduced that one can only wonder why Snow Team SIx did not opt to remove them on Wednesday when the weather was balmy and the mounds were thus more slushy and relatively pliable as opposed to frozen stiff..

And the other, Snow Team Six has been remise to clean up the mess left behind as snow piles melt.  GIven Snow Team SIx’s seemingly near-daily practice of power washing of Kim Jong Koch Plaza when the weather is warm and as it was earlier this week.

Accordingly, one can only assume that a number of Snow Team Six members must be out on vacation this week as it is school vacation week.

So many that there may actually be more work to do than the remaining team members of the well-past overstaffed unit can manage.

Needless to say, Quincy Quarry’s ever-growing legions of loyal readers can count on the Quarry to monitor the situation and then report on how things will play out care of today’s storm.
