– News about Quincy Massachusetts from Quincy Quarry News.
Quincy Center’s Generals Bridge is still not open for use.
In spite of the massively expensive events tied to the Generals Bridge’s dedication almost four months ago as well as MassDOT’s (qualified, ed.) assurances that the bridge would likely be opened up for use by the end of this year, so far the bridge is still not open to vehicular use.
Granted, MassDOT has the rest of today and all of tomorrow to wrap things up and then open the new Quincy Center bridge to nowhere, Quincy Quarry News opted to publish this update today.
Reasons why include that the Quarry wants to free up Quarry personnel to cover anticipated New Year’s Eve accident stories or at least allow the holiday weekend news crew to be able to take in a little New Year’s cheer and then rely on Uber to get home as safely as might be possible on the ever-increasingly mean streets of Quincy.
I guess the bridge to nowhere never really mattered.
The bridge salesman must be a legend in the bridge sales industry.
A commenter on a previous story pointed out that this bridge is for jumpers and not traffic.
