Quincy Man accused of fatally sucker-punching a father of three finally facing a court trial.

Almost three years ago, a Quincy native was killed while he was said to be trying to break up a fight involving someone who had been thrown out of an American Legion Post bar in Squantum for disorderly as well as likely also drunken behavior.

In spite of the fact that most everyone in the know knew who struck the fatal blow within no more than a couple of days after the blow was inflicted, it took almost eleven months for felony indictments to be filed against the alleged sucker puncher.

As for why so long, do note that the sucker puncher is related to both a retired Quincy police officer and a current Quincy patrol officer as well as is said to be friends with certain other Quincy police officers.

That and how rumor has it that omerta by at least some of those at the scene of the alleged crime slowed the investigation.

As such, understandable COVID-19 pandemic delays notwithstanding, taking almost three years to go to trial has ultimately but added further injury to the victim’s already traumatized family members and many friends.

Even more insulting, however, is how the alleged sucker puncher is apparently planning to argue in court that he was the victim of a gang assault on the night the deceased was allegedly sucker-punched by the defendant.

That and so looks to be going down swinging trying to fight the charges.
