Quincy Center sod sodded yet again.
As could only be expected, a piece of sod laid down to patch a spot of turf trashed by foot traffic in front of Quincy’s two city halls has itself ended up sodded and as has been the case on a number of occasions previously.
While at first following the trashing of nearby turf care of Quincy Mayor Thomas P. Koch’s September 10 General Gala held outdoor in a temporary pavilion on most of the turf at Kim Jong Koch Plaza, unlike most of the sod under pavilion’s temporary flooring, the previous patch of sod looked to have weathered the gala.
Now, however, such turned out to not be the case.
Unfortunately, as cold weather is surely coming too soon as far as most locals are concerned, it is too late to reseed the trashed turf and thus yet another sodding yet is only to be expected.
In turn, as well as Quincy Quarry’s evergrowing legions of loyal readers know, the Quarry will continue to monitor the situation and report back as might be appropriate.
Pouring a small section of concrete that blends attractively with the existing pavement geometry would be a simple, relatively cheap and permanent solution. Apparently it’s a few steps too far beyond the imagination of the Koch regime. Perhaps the problem with that sort of solution is that it would SAVE money in the long run. But as we’ve seen over and over again, that’s clearly the last thing this regime wants to do.
Yes, on and on it goes. Maybe the city should just create a full-time maintenance/guard position specifically tasked with monitoring.reseeding/resodding and overseeing this particular piece of ground. A nice green uniform, a rake, a shovel, some of the overabundance of fertilizer pouring out of city hall and they’d be good to go!
